Danii, I relate to a lot of what you said.
Before my first counselling session I was a panicking mess. The waiting room was awful because I just didn't want to have to say things. Like you, I find it easier to write things out. Generally I think the first meeting, is really just a meeting, get to know each other, see if it's a good match.
For each of my appointments, I try to write out what I want to talk about before hand. I write it on my phone in case I freeze and forget it all, or I could even just hand her the phone to read it (it hasn't come to that yet). There was one time when I told her I couldn't think of anything else to talk about.....it was actually more that I couldn't narrow it down to one topic.
Don't minimize your feelings, maybe in comparison they may seem small, but if they are bothering you, they are worth looking at.
I'm not good with doctors and since my T is a counselor (rather than a psych) I find it easier to get there. I don't worry about all the medical things and I know she's not going to attack me with needles.
