I only read part of the article. I quit when the writer was questioning if she really needed to put the topic through mass media and specifically vanity Fair. Going public myself I know that no matter who does the original story society is going to come out of the woodwork some for the disclosure and media used and some against. I personally have no preference as to what type of media discloses sexual abuse of children. The only way this type of abuse is going to stop for some is doing public exposure.. I was well into my adult years before the child sexual abuse ended. But all failed until I went public. Those that do go public have a specific reason for doing so. some because its their last chance at freedom, others target specific age groups and so on as their area of disclosure. I wouldn't be surprised if this actress had a reason for choosing vanity fair - maybe the reporter was one she knew that would do a more than decent job, maybe someone she knew read vanity fair and was using that as a way to reach out to the person, Maybe the abuser had other survivors out there and this actress knew some of them and knew they read vanity fair.. the point is only that actress know why she chose that media for her disclosure. And regardless of what media she chose (chooses) to use. eventually the mass media would have broke all kinds of stories surrounding her father. Maybe Vanity Fair was the one that had an opening right then so she could break the story on her terms about her own abuse. And again only this actress knows why and when and so on.

As for the reporter commenting on the article - I feel putting someone down just because they are a celeb who is using the mass media for disclosure when millions of non celebs do so is definately in poor taste so to speak. It doesn't matter who what and where. we live in a tme when child sexual abuse IS being disclosed and prosecuted and treated. Some teen ager reading that review most likely is going to think twice about disclosing what they are at the moment experiencing when a celeb is being treated like sh** for her disclosure. Definately in poor taste on the part of the reporter doing the article review.
