that's not strange at all. My first husband grew up with 6 brothers and sisters. He could not fall asleep without the TV or radio on. He hated silence. Some of his best naps were on the couch "watching" sports.

I can't fall asleep unless it's absolutely silent. I was sort of an only child (my only brother is 15 years older). If there's TV or radio I want to listen to it. Now I live in a highrise near a busy street so I need white noise, like a fan in the summer or humidifier in the winter.

When I lived with my first husband I only slept 3 hours a night (I thought it was just normal for me - I had no idea I was bipolar then) so when he went to sleep I'd just get up and shut the TV off.
