Does your school have a website? If they do check if they have a Program of Studies, or some form of a list of classes offered somewhere on the website. Mine does and it has all the classes offered with descriptions and their level in it, as well as school policies, info on standardized tests, GPA, class rank, college etc...if there isn't one online someone at the school should have one or the info you need.
Good luck , I understand your situation, freshman year I was stuck in a class called freshman seminar (which they created that summer so there was no info on it) and it was...different (we didn't do much but talk and random activities)...it only lasted 5 days because everyone dropped it....
