I personally don't see anything wrong in the child having a "safe-place" to escape to.
It is very inventive and creative of her to be able to do that and probably saved her from an awful lot of pain at the time.
Some people might say that, this is a way of avoiding what happened, but actually it was a way of "surviving"
Healing takes time.
