I'm sooo sorry that your Mother said this to you!! That was really inappropriate.
It sounds like you were able to let it roll off your back at the time, and that was probably the best although you can't un-ring a bell and words like that have a way of staying with you.
One time, my mother said something similar to me about my backside. We are both overweight and I had lost some weight and mentioned that I was going to the gym and she said "Yeah, your butt is looking pretty chunky there." At the time, letting things roll of my back wasn't my forte but my response got her to realize that she had been inappropriate when I fired back "Yeah, I know, but thank God it doesn't look like yours!!"
After that, she didn't make another comment about my weight or my body for a long time....but alas...the comments returned. I hope you know that you are just fine the way you are and I applaud you for being physically active. Whether you're doing it for weight loss, toning, or fun, it's a healthy thing to do for yourself, so GOOD JOB!!
