MY car accident was 15 years ago- but just last year I had to have surgery to treat the worsening injuries- TAILSPIN to my PTSD!! I am facing another surgery( or very agressive therapy in October- all because ONE person was in too much of a hurry- No one died, but I lost the career I had, had to drop out of school where I was maintaining a perfect 4.0 and am now on disability and in chronic pain daily. I was told that complex PTSD was CHRONIC PTSD- meaning regular PTSD- flashbacks, anxiety, etc but that triggers ( mentioned above) may at ANY time bring it all back to the front of your brain- I am learning coping skills to help with the frustration, but even the psych comm. doesn't realize WHAT triggers you, so you get re-traumatized whle they are trying to keep you safe! I am working on a safety plan that will be in place and with me at all times- my pdoc. T, hubby and any emergency personal will know what to do step by step to prevent further issues- but I have to be safe FIRST and able to think clearly, so it is taking a while. I just learned of a Psychatric Advance Directive- I looked it up on "Bing" and found much info- It is like a regular Advance directive and varies state-by-state, but it tells those who don't know you what to do in a crisis for you. Good luck and HUGGS
