I was having a hard time with ambient sound - traffic, birds, construction, you name it, it was bothering me. It became a real focus for me when speaking with my pdoc and therapist - What Can I Do????
For me, the answer lay in finding something else to do. It seems that whenever I'd be having a problem with a local sound, if I concentrated on something else - anything!! Dinner, decorating projects at home, my pet; my thoughts would be off on this other tangent, and I couldn 't even *hear* the noise, although I tried my hardest.
Just my experience.
