The other thing to consider is that many times a child can be groomed into abuse and they really don't know it is wrong. And if a child doesn't really know something is wrong than just like other memories some of the events can be forgotten.

Ofcourse you may realize now that something happened and it was wrong but as I mentioned it may have just not been perceived as something bad when it occured.

They have found that children that are raised and abused in many of these compounds (one of them is now being exposed) truely do not realize that their daily life was full of abuse. But these children an women are different and often lack any sense of independance or self. They are not only raised in abuse but are taught to abuse as well and they do not realize that it is wrong.

And aside from sexual abuse children are raised in atmospheres where they are often emotionally abused or ignored or even surpressed and they are really not always aware that they are victims. Much of their inabilities come out later when they are around other people and have difficulty interacting and functioning normally or even understanding what that means.
