I don't believe that on-line relationships are wrong. However in my experience they do not always translate into real life (I have met a few men off on-line dating sites and have had mixed experiences) - I think we can all be someone different on-line - for example I find it so much easier to be braver here on PC than I really am - couldn't share half the things I do on here with anyone else face to face.
So if you ever decided to meet this person face to face - first make sure you are meeting somewhere safe, but also be prepared that it may feel very different to talking on-line.
There of course is nothing wrong with restricting it to an on-line relationship - before computers people often had "pen friends" who they mever met but would write letters to - so conducting a relationship more remote from real life is not a completely new thing.
If this friendship makes you feel good, then to me that is the important thing - do please just be safe if you want to meet up, however well you think you know him from on-line chat.
