I have thought a lot about who makes the best match for a narcissist. It is a tough one. Dating might be fine, as each is putting on his/her best face to impress the other. Then again, when would either get in a word edgewise? As for a long term relationship, on the one hand, neither would make threatening, emotional demands of the other. On the other, they could be in a constant tug-o-war to retain control with neither giving in. NPD's do not compromise. I guess it all depends on how much contact they have. Maybe two NPD airline pilots would make a good match??? Anyone living closely with a narcissist will inevitably run into trouble. The narcissist thrives on chaos and conflict. I think the best match is a codependent who has buried their own needs and is drawn to an emotionally unavailable person, ie. feeds off their constant push and pull. A martyr. Some believe you can find harmony by appeasing the narcissist and bowing to his every whim. But even then, the narcissist will despise and abuse you because he considers you weak. So maybe you have to fight back enough to present a challenge but not enough to be a real threat? It seems since narcissists are such a contradiction, coming to any firm conclusions about them is quite a task.
