Perfumes being added to dishwashing liquids. Even the "green", "free", etc, have added perfumes. It is especially noticeable when I wash skillets and any sorts of non-stick, but also even stainless steel. I try to not use these things, just warm water, but when I do, then no matter how well I scrub, and how much I rinse, the moment I put on on the stove and start cooking the smell of the perfume is overwhelming. Many times I started water for rice (expensive purified water) and had to dump it, because it stank of the dishwashing perfume.

P.s. Sorry, this isn;t even a pet peeve, since it's not something people do, just what people accept from industry. And it just occured to me that I do know one dishwashing liquid that has non-chemical scent, Bio-clean, it's fragrance is from grapefruit oil and it is often used as veggie wash, to clean waxes and such. The only reason I don't use it is that my housemates go through a bottle of dish soap in no time. No matter how much I tell them they do not need to use so much, they will squirt huge globs of soap into pan WHILE running at full stream into it. Why don't you just pour my expensive dish soap directly down the drain, eh? I guess THAT is my pet peeve. Solution: MY dishwashing liquid, and THEIR dishwashing liqud,.
