Pseudoephedrine can have very high affinity for dopamine receptors. Depends on your genes, really, just which receptors get hit, and how hard.

You may not like this advice, but I suggest that you make an emergency appointment with a doctor or psychiatrist who knows you well. The idea that you are already exhausted, and you're stretching (even enhancing) your mania, implies to me that you have a fairly substantial crash coming your way. And the word "soon" comes to mind.

There's nothing at all wrong with planning for it. Putting cushions out where you think you might fall, to soften the blow.
