A Poem about Meeting
There was a moment in time
The smallest moment it was
But that moment was huge
It held the seed
It was the seed of reaching out
Inside me, it was buried
But when it began to sprout
I looked for you.
It was help I sought
But where and how to find it?
The emotions were exploding within
And I felt so alone and lost
Your name appeared on a long list
The list, the list, the list
Who to call? I’m blind, I’m deaf
Which one to choose?
Among the Adams, the Johnsons, the Smiths
I kept returning to your name
Why? Only the universe knows for sure
I knew only to follow where I was led.
I called and I was heard
I called and found my support
I called and my life changed forever
I called and began my transformation
To you, my first and only therapist
I feel overwhelming gratitude
I’ve been caught and saved
It was a moment in time.
