SunAngel,

I'm so sorry to hear about your cocker spaniel. The poor puppy.

I had dogs my whole life until 2 years ago when my terri-poo died and I know how precious they are. My dogs were like members of my family, especially after my kids left home. Yes, I'm one of those crazy people who think of their dogs as surrogate kids.

In 2005 Coco Puff (that's her picture under my name) got pyometra and we spent $1200 saving her life. I do not regret spending the money at all. And 6 months later she saved my life when I was so depressed I wanted to die. She got me out of bed and finally I went to the doctor.

If you can afford the surgery, go ahead. When I was a girl, my friend had a dog who was born with 3 legs, and boy could Sam ever run! He was just like any other dog.

I know that having a sick dog, especially with cancer is worrisome and stressful. You have to trust the vet to do their best for your dog. Your vet wants your dog to be healthy as much as you do.
