Well ladies - I made my first foray into the world wearing makeup today and it was a success.

But first the getting the makeup on story. I wear glasses - I'm blind as a bat without them, so I had to get my face really close to the mirror to put it on. Then I discovered how hard it can be to just get one eyelid shut and keep it shut (it kept trembling). Eye shadow wasn't bad. But the eye-liner, that was an adventure. I kept hitting the mirror with the brush until I figured out what angle I had to hold it at. Then I got way too much on and looked like a racoon - so off it came. Attempt 2, I thought under my eyes looked ok, but I couldn't get a clean line on top. So the top got redone. Took me about 20 min to put on eyeshadow and eyeliner, and I still thought I was resembling a racoon.

Lipstick was easy and I liked the colour.

Well it worked.

I had an appointment today with my career coach - on interviewing skills. This is the same guy who told me I needed a makeover. He's blunt.

First thing he said after greeting me, was "Wow, you look really good, you look really rested or something." Then he commented that I'd gotten my hair cut and asked if I'd coloured it. I said nope, and he said, well something's different whatever it is you look really good.

Not that my ego is overly invested in this guy - still it's nice to get a compliment.

So I asked him at the end of the meeting if I could ask him a personal question. He said sure and I asked if my makeup was ok. He looked at my face really hard, and said he hadn't even noticed I was wearing any - just that I looked good.

So I'd say the makeup experiment was successful.
