I'm on prozac for depression and xanax for anxiety, plus lamictal for mood swings. I know they make xanax seem like a street drug like heroin or something and some doctors won't prescribe it which I think is really stupid because it doesn't stay in your system long and can be very beneficial for anxiety attacks. To me the xanax is like an inhaler for an asthmatic. It will settle me down within 10 minutes so I can function again. It is addictive but what isn't? Melatonin is over the counter - some people it helps, some it doesn't, but maybe with the other drugs you take it will be more effective. As far as Lexapro I had too many side effects so went back to prozac. I hope this helps.
