I also am newly diagnosed. I ended up in the hospital after not sleeping/eating for 5 days. I am confused about the meds though. I was (in the hospital) taking part in the morning and part in the night. Now they have me taking all at night. They were creating horrid nightmares so I have cut back. I still don't have a followup appt with a psychiatrist. Services have been cut and I just had my first appt with my therapist today. She said she will be setting up an appt with psychiatrist but still haven't heard. Btw, I am on 1000 of depokote and 3 mg of risperdal. I am now only taking 1.5 of risperdal b/c it was making me feel way too slowed down and not helping with sleep. I am now taking 750 of depokote. I know I shouldn't be messing with meds however I need to sleep and funtion. I am also taking 20 mg of Doxepin for sleep at night. That is what I was on before this manic episode. I also was on Citalopram which I think led to the mania. Any advice/support. I hate that I have to take meds forever. And I also have PTSD which makes it hard for me to trust these docs. Both are also weight gainers which freaks me out. Thx in advance.
