I used to have a similar dream except my seat is too far forward, and I can't maneuver my legs to operate the clutch. It feels claustrophibic and panicky. The dream used to take place in my real life car.

For me it was clearly a "control" dream... I am a bit of a control freak and the dream represents my claustrophobia and discomfort of loosing control (I am not claustophobic in real life however, but I do experience a sense of claustrophobia in the dream)

I haven't had that dream in a very long time but what is funny is that I am taller now and ride with my seat a bit back. I used to be so small that with the seat pulled all the way up I still had plenty of room. The dreams were so vivid that I would often have to "test" that and remind myself that it was OK before driving anywhere. Now that I'm a little taller I've found that if I do pull my seat all the way up my knees do indeed bang into the dashboard. It is not a scary feeling now but it does remind me of the dream.
