My T has explained about caring and getting paid to my friend who is also her client. She said that what we pay for is her expertise, etc.. The caring is free. I wish she would say that to me, but I ought to be able to figure it out because she kept in contact with me for a few months in between when I was her student and before I became a client, and she looked for people closer to me to refer me to, and she didn't have to do any of that. She never has much free time either, so it says something that she took the time to make sure that I was taken care of. So, I think you're right, and your T would care about you even without getting paid.
