To answer your question, I believe it is very common to express yourself in strange ways. Everyone is different and some people have trouble either laughing or crying. I would feel grateful that you can do both!
I am grateful for the able to do both but the doing them both in seconds I am not- unless it is the crying and then laughing with out going back to crying- that I like- but the mixed states of emotions- is a bit to handle at time

but I do agree with you we all cope in ways of our own- I just don't like this way. It scares me for I feel at the time I am going on a bad "breakdown"

I have done what you mentioned about a death- expect with laughter it was a crude "joke" with no emotion or empathy... I still feel bad about that.
