Hi...My name is Jeanne and I'm new to PC. I live in Michigan, 54, and I've moved home to take care of my parents, one who has had to be moved to a special facility for Advanced Alzheimer's. Life is pretty sad, but the one constant in my life is my best friend and confidant, Molly...my precious rescue dog. Molly was found while looking at dogs on the Internet in local shelters. She was pretty shabby, but I saw great potential. I adopted her, got her in tip-top physically, gave her a beautiful "makeover" and she is absolutely adorable. No one could have asked for a better dog...can't imagine why some would drop her off in WalMart's parking lot...I guess they lack compassion. Luckily, they estimate she was alone for only 11 days, but that is 11 days too man.
Anyway, my question is this: Molly is going to be 8 years on November 3rd. She has always followed me wherever I go...which is usally on my bed. Often she will stretch out on "grandpa's" bed because it is bigger and a bit cooler. Lately, she has decided to spend ALOT of time UNDER my very small twin size bed. The space she is in is very low and small as I use it for storage. Basically, there is just enough room for her...she can barely turn around. She has decided this is where she wants to be most of the time...it is also where she goes when we have thunderstorms.
Do you think this is okay or do you think something is wrong? She has never done this before, with the exception of storms. Otherwise, she seems to be doing okay, although she isn't eating quite as well as usual. She loves to play and go for walks, so she still seems pretty "normal." What do you think? Should I be afraid and have her seen by her vet or just realize that maybe she just needs her own space to feel safe. I miss her company. Thanks for any suggestions you might have for me.
Blessings!
