I don't believe "the universe" punishes us. I'm sorry that where you are living leans towards such experiences, and hope that somehow, some way you can find a safer place to live.

I keep thinking I won't live in a gated community in the future, but T thinks it's a good idea...helps me stay safe. I hate the politics of the HomeOwners Board etc...and the fees... but I guess I really have it good, afterall.)
