Jazz is my 8/9 yr old Quarter Pony (legless draft). I am 5' 8" so * should * have about a 15 hand horse... Jazz is 13.3... (I'm tall she is short) so we look a bit goofy. But she is FAT so my feet don't dangle too far down
She is SO great! A little who doesn't know how to ride will get on her and she will, with great caution, give pony rides around the arena. She will play tag on the ground with them, kick a big ball around, let them teach her silly tricks or just stand there and let them love on her. When she is laying down in the field she will also let the littles come cuddle up with her and take a nap.
When parts that know how to ride get on her she could take them to the show ring and get ribbons. She knows all the stuff of a great western pleasure show pony.
When parts with attitude get on her she gives it right back! She will bite, refuse to move, walk back to her halter or stall and refuse to give them a ride... it is really funny!
We can ride with English tack, Western tack or our favorite (including Jazz) no tack at all... even the littlest parts can ride he bareback and bridaless in the arena. she will just walk where ever they look.
Three rides ago there was a part on her that was scared stiff. Could ride for a minute or two and then had to get off and calm down, breathe and get back on. Jazz just went with it. The next week a part got on that used to show... Jazz did a whole walk/trot Western pleasure rutine that surely would have been in the ribbons at any local level show.
She knows each part and greets (or doesn't greet if it is one she doesn't like) each one differently and with great love.
Oh, and I got her because she attacked her first owner several times. Her second owner she wouldn't do anything for unless she was severely forced. Can't tell you how many times I was told she was just a b* and would always have to be "made" to do things with the potential for her to become dangerous!
She is even teaching my son to ride and talk!
