If your panic attack came on because of a stressful situation there is a good chance that you can settle back to normal, as long as you don't have to go into a similar situation.
The problem with panic is that once we have experienced it we tend to hold that fear in the back of our minds and it can haunt us. IMO the mind doesn't like to be out of control, and it doesn't easily forget the experience.
If you can think about other things and move on, I think this could pass. Only a proportion of people who have one panic attack end up with panic disorder, for others it just goes away.
