I did something fun and recovery related that I never would have been able to do even 6 months ago.

In addition to AA, I'm using the Women for Sobriety program for recovery. I really like it. They dont have very many inperson meetings, but they have a very active and supportive web site with chat meetings.

Anyways, I drove down to Niagra Falls NY with a woman I met on the boards. She's from North Dakota and was in Toronto visiting family. There are no meetings where she's from, and the Toronto meeting was cancelled as it was a holiday Monday. So she invited me to go to a meeting with her in Niagra Falls. We went and it was awesome. It was a much bigger and better organized group than my group here, and clearly the women are all working hard on their recovery but are also having fun. They made us feel very welcome, and we had a good meeting.

It was just so great to do something new for a change. Get in some recovery, and not let my shyness hold me back.
