I think that another option would be helpful:
I like receiving affection to an extent, especially in public.

For whatever reason, I am extremely self-conscious. I feel very "on the spot" when affection is shown in public. Especially if the attention is very eye-catching. I don't like trying to put on a show for others. Makes me paranoid that the affection isn't reality, and instead simply a way of catching other people's eye.

That's my reasoning.
