Rainbowzzz: How quickly did you get to the 150 mg of Effexor XR? I have been on it for about 4 weeks now but I am ONLY on 37.5 mg! My doctor understands how sensitive I am to any type of drug so has been very cautious about how quickly she is moving me up in the dosage. I saw her yesterday because I felt the same way you do - wound up like crazy and I ran out of my Ativan. I only take .5 mg in the morning, 30 min before I take my Effexor and it makes a world of difference for me. She agreed to give me more Ativan until I get to the higher levels of Effexor (when it starts to work on the anxiety part of my problem) because it has already helped with the depression - even on this low dose. I need it to get over the hump and I understand that a lot of doctors do prescribe something like Ativan to get people through the worst part of adapting to the ADs. Just my two cents worth.
