Don't know how old you are but, I can tell you without a doubt, the girls guys seem to ignore in school are the one's they kick themselves year's later for not having asked out. And it usually works the other way around too. You just may be overlooking a great guy or two yourself, but you may have to do some of the work. It can pay off. The guys that only go for the "popular" girls usually aren't worth the time of day. Find yourself a guy that may not yet have grown into his looks but gets straight A's in math and science.
