I am having a hard time understanding your question. Are you saying that when your sister was about five she thought she was male? I have twins that are now 18. The older of the two would say he is a girl from the time he could speak. I understand the difference between gender identification and being gay, but I think that was the only way he could verbalize how he felt at that young age. Or perhaps it was how he could explain to his twin that he wanted to wear girl’s clothing and play with dolls. At 18 he no longer thinks that he is female but he is gay.

In my opinion the best thing that you can your family can do is what you are already doing, be supportive and show her that you love her no matter what.
