I know it's hard to hear, but your T is right. Whilst none of us can just 'snap out of it', it's true that you do have to participate in fighting your depression. That's not saying it isn't difficult, it is (I know!) and I'm sure your T understands this too.
The last thing you want to do is get out of bed and do something, right? But I'm told that shutting yourself away from the world is apparently the worst thing to do -- so says my T, and I think it's pretty much the consensus... (Doesn't mean I still don't stay in bed some days!

Going to the library is a win! Joining the gym with your friend sounds like a great idea, too

Any little thing you can think of to get you out of the house and around people. Sometimes I drive to the supermarket just for the heck of it, just so I have to get dressed, do my makeup, and do something - even though it's just to go buy a magazine or whatever.
