I had a bunch of blood tests done a few months ago to see if everything was as it should be - as I was cycling about 100 miles a week at one point and wasn't losing any weight or measurements, just gaining muscle. I was concerned about it so I wanted them to check my thyroid. Apparently everything was normal. Not sure if they checked out any possible problems with insulin. I'm just guessing with me it's the effects of stress/cortisol or my antidepressants... either way, my clothes just got tighter and tighter, and when I stopped all that cycling (to work, I had to quit) I piled weight on despite being careful not to overeat. I'm now trying to step up the exercise again, even though I fear it won't do any good :/
So, yeah... I know where you're coming from and how frustrating it is.
