Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

...so I'm trying to decide if I should submit a leave of absence request to the symphony orchestra that I sing in on a volunteer basis. The hour-long drive just seems far more tiring than usual of late, plus I'm currently unemployed - this is not a paying position unless we tour - so gas is expensive. I figure I could take the break and come back when I have employment, but it's the only ensemble I've been in since I graduated from college, and I was handpicked to perform a certain concert series. So I kind of feel I am betraying their trust by considering it.

But I also have the assurance that I can come back when my leave is up, if they approve it. I'm not sure what to do right now and I feel kind of stuck between the pros and cons. Has anyone else ever done this kind of thing before?
