It is possible to have both BP and GAD. Not saying that's what going on in your case by any means, but I am dx with both so it is possible.

I would say your pdoc is probably doing the safe thing and treating the symptoms while working towards a correct dx. It may take a little time if you have a lot going on but try to be patient (trust me I know that's easier said than done). It's much more important to get the right dx than a fast one.
