I would say your pdoc is probably doing the safe thing and treating the symptoms while working towards a correct dx. It may take a little time if you have a lot going on but try to be patient (trust me I know that's easier said than done). It's much more important to get the right dx than a fast one.

Thank you for your reply I did not know you can have both,he did say he was quite confident that I didn't have bipolar.
Your totally right about taking the time to get the correct dx, for over 20 years I've just been given ssri meds for depression and sleeping pills,even though I'd tried every single pill in that family of meds and not one has helped my family doctor would not listen to me or change me to different type of medication.
So I'm now with seroquel and sertraline and so far so good.
