I had a friend over last night and we were in deep conversation till gone 3 this morning about the mind, religion, faith and spirituality, and... the power of music and lyrics. And so we ended up playing each other certain songs that were particularly meaningful to us. I think a song will mean something different to every person. Example: he played me a song called "Handlebars" by Flobot (loved it, by the way!) - he likes it because to him it's that childlike feeling ("I can ride my bike with no handlebars") of achieving something and feeling like you can do anything (eg "I can hit a target through a telescope"). My first reaction to it was that it was somebody's experience of mania, and delusions of grandeur, being able to save or end the world, etc. I think both of our interpretations fit, despite being different.
