If the pdoc reacts badly to a request for a change then that is just another reason why you should change. he should have your interests at heart, and if you feel you are not "gelling" with him he should have no problem transfering you.

Since the pdoc and the t work within the same system maybe you can talk to the t about this and maybe she can arrange a transfer for you with less grief. you may prefer to face the pdoc directly, just offering another possible choice.
