Two or three times, a while ago, I experienced something that my psychologist dismissed as "a mental cryout", but really scared and puzzled me.
What happened was that, while I was thinking, of nothing in particular really, a sort of "shouting" voice went off in my head: my voice, overlapping my regular, conscious thoughts, which I didn't CONTROL, it wasn't something I was thinking at all, just my own voice shouting sentences over and over, which gradually died down. What really freaked me out was how different it was from the way I'm used to my thoughts being, I don't know how to explain it, normal thoughts are something that you are "doing" on purpose, even when they're just random and you don't know where they come from, you're the one wording them and know why they're there. This was like something external, I had no idea where it came from.
Do any of you know what this could be? Has anyone experienced something like it? Does it have a name?
