If your prescribing Dr. is only a gp, I'd ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. They specialize in psych medictions and can work with you to find one or a combination of meds that work for you. I find I need a combination of meds.
I would never trust a Dr. who just said "pick one" when it came to psychotropic meds, particularly if you've tried several unsuccessfully.
