Hello. Please feel free to read my "new here" thread and biography on my profile.
Forgive me if I am redundant here: a lot of forums get very upset if you have not thoroughly searched old posts on various topics.
I did search some old posts on the topic of my akathisia. But obviously, when you have this condition, you want to work on it and get rid of it as soon as possible, because the feelings of restlessness and agitation associated with it can be agonizing.
My doctor changed my meds one week and one day ago, and then my problematic symptoms kicked in. Today I was "hurting" so much that I literally crawled around on my bed on all fours and moaned very loudly.
Really what I want to get to is the following: from what I have read in articles about akathisia, it is a physiological problem, caused by psychiatric drugs, and that OTHER psychiatric drugs fix the problem. But that doesn't help me out much right now, because I am following my doctor's advice on the meds I need to take to remedy this condition.
So really I'm getting at the idea of COPING with akathisia; in other words, actually DOING certain things that make the condition at least more manageable. Has anyone ever had this condition/ know of behavioral changes that can be made to make this easier?
Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks, GrandMaster.
