Hey, 24 hours is pretty good! My former landlord only used to give me 12 -- and then he was a jerk about what constituted "clean." One time, right as I was leaving for work, a box of books spilled out from the living room closet onto the floor. I was running late and figured I'd pick them up when I got home.
When I got home, there was a 5-day eviction notice on my door for not keeping the place in a "clean and tenantable condition."
GIMME A BREAK!
My life is a lot easier now that I have a friend who enjoys cleaning (the weirdo!) come over and do the hard stuff for me once a week! I refuse to let her in the bedroom, which is a dump, but everything else looks pretty good!
BTW -- when I moved to my current place, I told the landlords (it's a resident manager couple) about what my old landlord used to do to me. One of them said, "You sign the lease, it's your apartment. Do what you want to it, just clean it when you move out." I love it here!
Anyway, good luck! -- and I sympathize completely.
