I could so easily have been you, clouds_and_sun. And the only reason it did not happen to me is that I kind of preventively reject those people I feel are not compatible with me. My people filter is always very sharply tuned and lets through only a very small selection of special people.

The thing is, because of the way my personality works I am quite simply incompatible with a lot of those 'mainstream' people. I barely understand them, they dont understand me. I think they are boring, and most likely they think i am boring.

Something like that could also be going on with you. Some people simply have to be very picky in their choice of friends otherwise disappointment will keep following disappointment at the first sign of incompatibility.

I think it might be wise to get a deeper insight for yourself into exactly what kind of person you are and what kind of friends would be most suitable for you.
