I have these snippets of information about the sun and it would be nice to organize them, verify them, and put them to use.
Here goes:
- if you are out in direct sun with full legs and full arms open for 15 minutes a day, you produce your own vitamin D. I do not get that exposure, so my pdoc recommended I supplement with Vit D3, but said it is for general health. So it is not moods, right?
- sun exposure helps regulate the circadian rhythms and melatonin production. Does it have to be direct sunlight? Or being outside but in the shade or when overcast counts, too? How long and when - morning or any time during the day is fine? How much skin should be exposed?
- sun exposure helps against depression, and something important depends upon the angle at which the sun rays hit the retina. I gather this is about something seasonal, but it also makes me think - Does it mean WE SHOULD WALK WITHOUT SUNGLASSES ON?
Thanks!
