Can you take the ambien cr until your pdoc returns? Or is it not working anymore? I've heard that some people who are on ambien for a while can get rebound insomnia when they stop taking it, so maybe that is going on with you (if you have stopped the ambien). I think you have to wait a while for that to wear off. I found that one of the worst things when trying to fall asleep and not being able to is to lie in bed unsuccessfully. It always worked better for me to just get up for a while rather than toss and turn. So I get up and do something, then try to sleep again in a couple of hours. If it is already close to morning, then I just have to get up and be tired for the day. I think eventually the body learns it has to sleep during the specified time or else get no sleep. That is the theory, anyway. I struggle with sleep... Hope your pdoc has some good ideas. Until then, exercise, fresh air, keep the bedroom cool... Hang in there.
