Depression is a complex issue. Objectivelly - are things alright in your life? Do you feel fullfilled? Can you do something to feel fulfilled?
There are many alternatives... I can speak only of the uberalternative way of herbs and crystals and zen... and somehow getting used to the periods of darkness. At this very moment I am in a place where I am depressed, but alright. I know it will pass and I am determined to fight back. To make something of the life against all odds.
