I would say knowing that others like me exist gives me comfort and hope. Knowing that the medical field and all the fields devoted to helping those with depression are there. That there are medications that may or may not help. That somewhere there is someone on a crisis hotline who cares enough to be there for a total stranger. That there are people who will read these posts and that they have gone through similar life problems.
What I find I need is distraction regarding the depression issues. The distraction can be anything ranging from walking in a park and watching nature to exercising in a gym. Within the distraction there is life in the moment and the issues of life and depression go away for that moment.
