I've been at my current employer a little over a year. I make minimum wage, which in this state is $7.40 per hour. I have not had any raises of course, nor am I to expect any.
I'm supposed to work 15 hours per week or less with more at Christmas, except for the past several months I ALWAYS am scheduled more. This week I was on every single day and I said, I can't do this, I have places I have to be Wednesday. (Therapy.)
Just got a call from my supervisor wanting me to come in until close. It was on my voicemail, I already 1) told him in advance I can't come in, and 2) called in this morning to remind him.
My therapist wants to write my a note limiting me to 15 hours but that would mean disclosing my disorder, which I feel is unwise.
Does anyone else have these kinds of problems? I feel like it's ridiculous for them to tell me I'm not worth a raise or a predictable schedule and at the same time tell me the whole place depends on this one very part-time employee (me) dropping everything at any time to bail them out.
BTW they just fired their 'favorite' part-timer because she had 14 call-ins in six months (I have one in a year) and she was stealing. So I kind of feel there is no pleasing them. Do what they want, have no life and never get a raise. Don't do what they want, have a life and never get a raise.
What say you?
