I don't know any pdoc's that will really involuntarily admit a person to the hospital unless their blood work shows that they are terribly anemic & weight is so low they are close to dying. They will definitely suggest voluntary hospitalization....but if you want to play the game.

When you end up involuntarily in the hospital is when you pass out doing something because your weight is so low that they haul you off in an ambulance. At that point, a pdoc can force you to stay until you get the necessary treatment to keep you alive. I was in the hospital because I was so sick from loosing so much weight & the pdoc did warn about keeping me there on a 72 hour hold....but my GP turned the other way because I needed to leave to be at my mother's funeral.....I had to leave AMA but promised to be back after the funeral & allow him to do the central line IV nutrition.

Know it's hard sometimes not to play the line game.....but it's really not a wise thing to do. Why push your luck.....why take the chances? What are you really trying to prove with what you want to do?
