smelling odors that are not there is called phantom smells. its a type of hallucination. its pretty much a normal thing. everyone gets this from time to time.
that said it can also signal problems like having a mental disorder where hallucinations is a symptom, ear infections, sinus infections, epilepsy or any other number of problems.
my suggestion - you may want to consider contacting your treatment providers so that you can rule out any of the mental or physical health problems that are associated with odor type, phantom or olfactory (which ever word your treatment providers use for this type of hallucinations) as a precaution.
