I have epilepsy and I get the smells, having one I have a lot of at the moment, cigarette smoke; that isn't real good because I'm a non-smoker

I don't honestly think it is a thing "most people" have, the way epileptics do; the other reason I know of for phantom smells is schizophrenia. Definitely not saying you have that, I wouldn't have a clue about that, it's just one of the reasons.
